Welcome to the hotel California!!!
First week of training down, was nice to see Perth has some glorious weather coming out, shame we are training in the middle of the day so unfortunately all that is to be seen from it is a nice singlet tan and extreme exhaustion.
We have changed primary gym facilities for the year and are doing most of our sessions at a cross fit gym north of the city. It’s crazy to see some of the things the people in those workouts do.
We are currently on our way to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where we have a couple of test matches against Holland before making our way to Rosario to play another couple of games against Germany and Japan. We just finished the first leg of our travel in which we had 4 games against USA in San Diego, California. We finished winning the tournament posting 2 wins and 2 draws against a very tough opposition who recently beat the world number 2 ranked Argentinian team in their Olympic qualifier.
It was a jam-packed week of travel and training, which ended in some really physical matches. It took us around 34 hours total to get from Perth to San Diego which caused significant jet-lag for the next few days. I did however manage to get an amazing sleep that night so couldn’t complain too much.
The team is fighting fit currently minus one of the girls who urgently needed to have root canal surgery on one tooth. After struggling to eat for the past few days she got to a dentist and found out the bad news. However the op went well and she is on the plane with us flying out tonight.
In addition to all the training and competition this year I have decided to take up a bit of an interest in learning how to play the guitar. There are a group of us keen to learn which will be a good distraction from all the on field chaos. I’ve had a guitar for a few years now so will be nice to finally know how to play a chord.
