Interesting Facts
- Hayley Chapman will compete in the pistol alongside her father, coach and hero, David, in London as the pair make history as the only father-daughter combination to have competed in the same Olympic Games for Australia.
- She took up shooting after having so much fun at the nationals that her father was competing at. David encouraged Hayley to reach the same heights in the sport and at the age of 15 she competed at her first national championships where she finished 3rd in the air pistol.
- Chapman's talents were recognised by the national body when she was selected for the Focus 2016 Youth Squad that will compete together at a number of selected events in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games.
- She had a strong 2012 Australian Championships where she competed against many of her more experienced rivals and finished 1st in the 10m air pistol and 2nd in the 25m pistol. Still eligible to compete in the juniors, Chapman also took home gold in the junior 25m pistol and silver in the junior 10m air pistol.
- She forced her way on to the Australian team having beaten her closest Australian rival, London teammate Lalita Yauhleuskaya, by five points as she shot her way to a final score of 577 at the last World Cup prior to selection in Munich.
