Interesting Facts
- Carli Renzi took up Judo at the age of 7 after her father's love for the sport was passed down to her. She began competing in the mixed U/20kg division and would beat many of the boys she fought.
- After winning her first Australian Championship in 2000 in the U/52kg division, she moved up a weight division to fight in the U/57kg class where she won the Australian Championships in the 2005, 2006 and 2007. Renzi won her first Oceania Championship in 2006.
- In an effort to add an extra dimension to her arsenal of weapons leading into the selection for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Renzi took up wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Despite missing out on her first Olympics in Beijing, she was a part of Australia's first women's freestyle wrestling team that competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Renzi finished 6th in the U/59kg division.
- After fighting in some of the toughest tournaments throughout Europe and Asia at the end of 2011 and start of the Olympic year, Renzi took out the 2012 Oceania Championships to book her ticket on the plane to London to compete at her first Olympic Games.
